In the last grading of arc school year, I realize so many things. Just like the things that I learned or discovered about myself the problems or challenges that encountered and how did I managed to overcome these problems or challenges. This school year is a new and unknown for me because of the pandemic and I will not forget the memories, lessons and experiences that I got from this school year. In this quarter, I learned how big is the capacity of my learning. I also learned I should learn how to use my time wisely. I also realize that I should trust myself. I have encountered my lack of knowledge, thinking of the worst and worrying about my grades but I overcome these challenges by asking for help from my family, friends, classmates and teachers, I also told myself to look and think on the brighter side and I should enjoy the new method of learning. Moving on, I will always look forward in the future. I am willing to still learn about the thing that I don't know. I w

Environmental damage has been one of the major challenges faced by the planet since three decades; but now, when the world is battling COVID-19 crisis, the need to expedite the restoration movement has been the most urgent. With the ecosystem loss, the world is getting increasingly deprived of carbon sinks, like forests and peatlands. And during a time like this, we can’t afford to let that happen. Environmental awareness is to understand the fragility of our environment and the importance of its protection. Promoting environmental awareness is an easy way to become an environmental steward and participate in creating a brighter future for our children.  The COVID-19 emergence has unleashed some drastic consequences and revealed how disastrous the loss of the ecosystem can be. We cannot attain Sustainable Development goals in the absence of ecosystem restoration. Preventing the biodiversity loss is the key to our survival post the pandemic. We should start to love and respe

The Most Precious Girl in Our Lives

Image
Mother’s Day in the Philippines is celebrated by most people on the second Sunday of May, despite a 1998 presidential decree to move it and Father’s Day to the first Monday of December. It is not an official public holiday. Mother’s Day is kind of a big day here in the Philippines. This is largely due to the large place of mothers in Filipino culture. Mum is called the “ilaw ng tahanan”, which means “the light of the home” due to the love, cheer, and brightness she brings to the family.  Mother’s day is extraordinarily revered and therefore it is celebrated throughout the country with utmost zeal. The people there do not only celebrate the festival not only in honour of their own mother but they also revere their grandmothers, cousins, aunts, and every other female members of the family. Our moms can be the most positive and important influence on our lives. Another reason why our mothers are the most important person in our life is  because she is always with us, when we a

Bigueños' Pride

Wearing clothes made from abel Iloko, a woven fabric endemic in the Ilocos Region, Binatbatan Festival is not merely just a festival. It depicts the rich culture and old industries of Vigan. Binatbatan Festival traces its roots from the abel weaving industry of Vigan which has been in existence even before the Spaniards came to colonize the Philippines. It comes from the word batbat, a pair of bamboo stick used to separate cotton pods that come from a tall tree called kapas sanglay. The word "kapas" from kapas sanglay means "cotton" in Ilocano. Street dancers of the Binatbatan Festival joyfully and cheerfully wave their "batbat," some simulate the method done by abel-weavers in separating the cottons as they gracefully perform the process artistically with the beat of the drums and lyres rolling around the historic streets of the heritage city of Vigan. Binatbatan Festival is not only a festival but a culture that we, Bigueños, treasure. It is

We Can Do More

Women play an important role in our country. Women are the primary caretakers of children and elders in every country of the world. International studies demonstrate that when the economy and political organization of a society change, women take the lead in helping the family adjust to new realities and challenges. They are working to improve our country. It is undeniable that women are already dealing with things that only men did in ancient times. Women from the past are not valued in the society in which they live because their abilities are only limited. They can't work or even study because they believe only men can do it. They only do household chores and serve their family. Previously there was no right to vote but now we can see how much the world of women has made a difference. But over time, the determination and courage shown by the women have served as the foundation and strength of their respective life partners. Their courage and determination

In the past I had been able to manage my workload by just working longer hours or at the weekends and getting everything done. I’ve always considered myself organised and have never had real challenges managing my time. The past few months have been the first time in my life when I created a to-do list and the things that were lower on the list were not getting done later, they weren’t going to get done at all. It was a tough realisation but a useful lesson that will serve me well in my future. With everything being online and digital, ideas I get lost in translation. If I'm having any questions, I always ask questions and help from my teachers. They will be more than happy to clarify things for me, us. For the last grading I will strive more to make my grades better. College is right around the corner for me. I realize how just how essential my knowledge of writing research papers is tied into the success I will achieve in my college classes. Photo Credit: "
